Hello world! You might be wondering why I've gathered you here today. I'll explain.
1) This February, I will be embarking on a trip abroad to South Korea. I am currently a student at California State University-Sacramento studying Design Studies. Ending out my fourth year, I decided to make things interesting and a few months later I got accepted to Incheon National University for the 2025 Spring semester. Because of this, I wanted to document my trip.
2) Why a blog? And why on this niche website? Why not make a flashy squarespace or WordPress site? Instagram exists and you'll most definitely get more attention on social media like that. sigh Well I'm 22 now, turning 23 in 2025 and to make a long story short, I miss the more analog internet days where any old yahoo with a keyboard and a dream could create their own little community online. It didn't have to be too professional or glitzy and it didn't have to be hosted on a super popular platform either. Especially in these days where major social media platforms mostly just make me angry, a place like this where I can just type and add a few pics here and there and then share it with people I care about makes more sense to me.
3) I like writing! I've got stories to tell and a slightly sarcastic voice to tell them in!
4) I grew up on those blogs of old as well as travelogues like those of Bill Bryson and others and I've always admired them. A blog like this seems like a place where I can create a log of stories like their's that /can/ reach others but is most likely for my own enjoyment :)
I leave for South Korea on the 21st of February. I'm also bringing my childhood digital camera to take pictures with, so future blogs may have visual aids (yay!), so look forward to that. In the meantime, 안녕, and see ya next time!
